Federated Introduces Plan to Help Employers With Escalating Health Premiums
Another option is now available from Federated Mutual Insurance Company® to help small employers combat medical inflation and control health insurance premiums. The new Defined Reimbursement Plan provides a method for small employers to ©self-insureª a portion of their medical premiums. Many larger companies have used this approach for years to help control benefit costs
How Does it Work?
The employer purchases a high-deductible health plan, which will achieve premium savings in most cases. A "defined" amount of the premium savings is then set aside to reimburse employees for any additional costs they might incur by switching from the previous lower deductible plan to the new higher deductible plan. Employees will be reimbursed a defined dollar amount for deductible and co-insurance expense up to a predetermined annual amount. (Employees are responsible for co-pays for prescriptions, office visits, and emergency room visits.) This helps employees see the actual costs of medical services and recognize the value of their health insurance benefits. Coverage for catastrophic events will remain the same.Contact your local Federated Marketing Representative for more details and a thorough analysis of your health insurance needs.
