Annual Lighting Awards Banquet

Electric League members will want to mark their calendar for Monday, November 4 to attend the annual Lighting Awards Banquet. The event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel, 1301 Wyandotte, downtown Kansas City, Mo. The narrated slide presentation will highlight some of the finest lighting projects completed in the Kansas City area during the past year. Area lighting designers, architects, engineers, contractors and project owners will be recognized for their achievements in commercial and residential lighting. An invitation to the event is enclosed with this newsletter. The Electric League is asking for your support of this popular event. A sponsorship form is enclosed.   Vote Smart! (The Chamber's Voters Guide Can Help!)

The Annual Electric League Holiday Luncheon will feature the presentation of the Electric League Industry Achievement Award. This is the highest honor the League can bestow on a member for his or her contribution to the electrical industry. Past winners include John Marietti, Chris Hedges, Duff Greenwood and Ernest Isenberg. Included with this newsletter is a nomination form for the Industry Achievement Award. Please take a moment and complete this form. The form should be returned to the League office by Oct. 31. Final selection will be made by secret ballot at the November 1 Board of Directors meeting.


Annual Member Bring a Prospective Member Luncheon Set for October 25

Members should plan today to attend the next Electric League luncheon - the annual Electric League member bring a prospective member luncheon on Friday October 25 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The luncheon will feature Jon Jacobson, Midwest Section PGA, as speaker. Jacobson is a former Electric League and NEMRA member.

This is a perfect opportunity to introduce a prospective member to the Electric League - a great luncheon at the always popular Arrowhead Club in Arrowhead Stadium.Our luncheon will kick-off with networking at 11:30 a.m. followed by the luncheon at noon. The luncheon is priced at $25 for members - your prospective member guest gets in for half price. Guest may not be from a member organization in order to qualify for reduced admittance fee.

  Chamber to Discuss Topics for Debate in 2003 Session

The hottest topics to be debated in the 2003 session of the Missouri General Assembly will be the focus of the Missouri Chanmber of Commerce's 30th annual Legislative Action Seminar, Oct. 17, 2002, at The Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake Ozark, Mo.

The seminar is designed to help business executives and legislative specialists reach a clearer understanding of the issues that will emerage in the upcoming legislative session.

Budget and fiscal issues, updates on state and federal legislation, and utility and energy issues are on the agenda, along with campaign insights and profiles of new legislators.

Several of Missouri's legislators, statewide elected officials, and some of the most knowledgeable business leaders in the state will discuss these and other issues that affect employers.

In addition to the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to attend the annual Spirit of Enterprise Award Reception, aboard the cruise yacht "Tropic Island" on the Lake of the Ozarks. The Spirit of Enterprise Award honors state legislators who have been supportive of business interests in the Missouri General Assembly.

First Aid & CPR Course - December 6

The Safety & Health Council and the First Aid Institute are proud to present these programs. Both the First Aid and the CPR programs are designed to teach individuals the crucial skills needed to be able to administer aid in emergency situations. This course meets and exceeds OSHA requirements.

Congratulations to John and Angela Meglio of Meglio & Associates, St. Louis, Mo on the birth of their son: John Luca Meglio, Jr. Born: August 9, 2002 1:20PM - Weighing in at 7pounds, 7 ounces. Measuring 20 inches long. Mother and Baby are both doing fine.

Happy September birthday to Mark Bishop at C&O Electric Sales - .don't' know the year!!!

Nice picture of Blythe Launder (Mrs. David of Independent Electric) in the Kansas City Star recently with the rest of her committee who organized this year's Annual Breakfast of the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation.

Congratulations on the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Tutorino, he's retired from IBEW Local #124, also with a very nice pic in the KC Star.

People are on the move, new faces at new places...Frank Doan is now a salesman with French-Gerleman and Susanne Bragaw has moved from Graybar to Johnson Sales as an inside sales person......Good luck to both in their new endeavors!
